UV Surface Disinfection
Non-clinical disinfection is no less than a 1-Log or 90% or X10-fold microbial reduction, however, in the infection prevention and control arena, we recommend destroying pathogens to a disinfection level of no less than 3-Log or 99.9% or x1,000 fold reduction in most settings (depending on environment, microbe and application one is targeting).
Sterilization is a 6-Log reduction is a 99.9999% or x 1,000,000-fold reduction in microbes. All of PP-L Biosafety’s devices are capable of delivering a significantly superior microbial sterilization level than even this, 1 parts per million level.
Now let’s take today’s big concern – Coronavirus. Studies have shown that COVID-19 is primarily spread through respiratory droplets, some of which can settle on surfaces and spread to people after being touched or handled. On surfaces such as cardboard, the virus can survive for up to 24 hours, and it can survive for 72 hours on metal and plastics. This hazard can be eliminated and controlled with our germicidal UV-C devices.
Whether on goods, packaging, returned goods, tools, surgical/medical instruments and indeed, any surfaces, such as furnishings – germicidal UV disinfection will minimize the risk from ALL PATHOGEN infections, Covid-19 included, because surfaces can be quickly disinfected or sterilised using UV-C systems, which can be applied directly to individual surfaces and to all exposed surfaces within unoccupied environments.
