Ventilation Compliance & Resilience

All mechanical ventilation systems need annual audits to ensure that these systems remain compliant with the current clean air regulations.
Managing and appropriately maintaining ventilation systems will reduce the health risk to staff in the workplace, as well as ensuring that your systems are running at optimum energy efficiency.
In the COVID-19 era, the adequacy of HVAC systems is now crucial to protecting your occupants.
If you want the best level of COVID-secure air in your building, you should ensure that you consider:

Outside air
Ventilation systems must draw as much outside air into an environment as possible.

Air changes
Systems should maximise the number of air changes in each room per hour.
We recommend a risk assessed approach to suit use, ideally achieving 10+ air changes per hour or targeting 15 litres/person/second.
For new build systems this can be readily achieved, but existing buildings or systems may require major refit or upgrade, unless UV-C is added.
If 10+ air changes per hour cannot be achieved, mitigations should maximise flow rate, supplement air mixing with fans and introduce UVC-upper room emitters.

Filters
HVAC systems and WC HVAC should utilise the best quality filters that are practicable, given the constraints on power capability, and maintaining air flow velocity.

UV-C devices
Engineered UV-C devices should be deployed in the duct, near the filter and coils, to suit the duct size, airflow velocity (contact time), temperature range, humidity, target microbe and target inactivation level (i.e., clean, disinfected or sterilised air).

CFD modelling
In more complicated or higher risk environments, use CFD (computational fluid dynamics) modelling to predict air flow, distribution, dead zones and aerosol generation mapping to engineer targeted UV-C interventions whilst maintaining safety.
Auditing these systems is a cost-effective way of maintaining performance and increasing lifespan of all components as a secondary benefit.
Our qualified professional engineers will review your systems and report on the potential solutions to protect your inside environment to a new level against viral transmission.
